Summary:

Reporting directly to the VP of IT Center of Expertise, this role will help build out the charter of the COE to operationalize new technology for Tyson. The charter is to evolve Tyson's capabilities around Automation and Mobility,focusing on maturing Tyson's mobile/handheld development, blockchain technology, and evaluating fit for purpose for robotics and AR/VR. While what is delivered is key, the true value of this team is building the implementation framework for the rest of the organization to deliver effectively and efficiently thus multiplying the impact of these disruptive technologies.

This organization's capabilities must include:

  • Technical excellence - this organization should be known fort he ability to learn and adopt new technologies rapidly with the ability to understand where it fits within the Tyson architecture principles and where it may be lacking.

  • Operational excellence - by developing an implementation framework for new technologies, this role needs to understand the strengths and weaknesses of Tyson's current ecosystem and build in ways to make support and adoption easier/quicker. This would include CI/CD and DevOps pipelines.

  • Process & delivery excellence - developing strong processes around the evaluation of new technologies and assessing the fit will require a disciplined approach to getting results and outcome that matter. This will require a \"fail fast\" mentality to move quickly and this organization will implement 5-10 projects per technology as a way to mature the technology in the Tyson ecosystem.

  • Curiosity beyond limits should be ingrained in the full team where this team is constantly seeking new opportunities for Tyson to win in the marketplace through technology. This is the team that would need to keep the tension around exploration and execution.

Qualifications:

  • To qualify, the candidate should have a successful track-record doing the role described above with experience in building technology capabilities at a rapid pace with success being measured by how quickly others can implement to get value.

  • 10+ years of experience working in a large, global organization developing and managing technology based programs. Experience working with geographically dispersed teams & customer base is desirable.

  • 2-3 implementation experiences with emerging/evolving application technologies for mobile apps, blockchain, robotics, OR augmented/virtual reality. Implementations should include some with ReactNative, Open Source and JavaScript for mobile; some with opensource blockchain technologies for blockchain; some with BluePrism for RPA.

  • Strong technical acumen with the ability to understand the best practices for implementing in multiple cloud environments, prevailing security standards and fit for purpose API strategies.

  • Ability to lead others through ambiguity and change. The right candidate wouldbe able to see the possibilities and help others see it as well.

  • Excellent communication, relationship and interpersonal skills with the ability to \"tell the story\" of the new technology. This includes a strong ability to communicate with IT users and business leaders to understand requirements, expectations and value measures.

  • Experience working closely with senior executives, understanding priorities, what information is needed to support decisions and confident in delivering presentations and advisement to senior leaders

  • Ability to work across a complex organization to create needed alignment and harness relationships and sphere of influence

  • Bachelor degree required/Advanced degree preferred
