SUMMARY: This position is responsible for leading the operations team within Prepared Foods to ensure profitability and industry leading service to our customers. The Group Manufacturing Director will be a key driver and will have a significant impact on the company's competitive position and financial performance. The role is responsible for overseeing about 6-8 plant operations and 9,000+/- Team members with an operating budget of 5.8billion. This role has shared responsibility for $1.7B Conversion Cost and $39MM of Plant Productivity. (Conversion cost defined as Direct Labor, Variable Overhead, and Fixed Overhead. Plant productivity defined as Continuous Improvement, Operational Efficiencies or LEAN savings.) The Group Manufacturing Director is responsible for both the strategy and daily cost management for the plants, thus will direct & coordinate the development and achievement of monthly, annual and long term strategic plans, as well as operational/lean improvement initiatives related to the cost, efficiency, waste, safety, quality, and environmental management. This position is responsible for the management of Supply Chain (Purchasing, Warehouse and Transportation), Health/Food Safety, Manufacturing, QA, Sanitation, Maintenance and Raw Materials activities to ensure that products are produced and meet all established company policies, quality standards and are within budget. This role works closely with and maintains positive relationships across all functional areas of the business to ensure that all activities are consistent with the company's and customer needs. Search for and identify activities to improve line efficiency, safety, employee relations, work environment, quality and training.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting, economics, marketing, or agri-business/science desired or equivalent experience.

Experience: 10+ years of operation experience, with at least three years of plant management experience, consumer products selling and sales management experience; food manufacturing experience preferred.

Computer Skills: Intermediate computer skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required; working familiarity with SAP, BI, and Success Factors preferred.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

Special Skills: Highly motivated; record of performance excellence in sales management, service, delivery and management leadership; deep knowledge of Prepared Foods, production systems and supply.

Supervisory: Responsible for managing multiple groups of personnel at multiple locations. Must have strong ability to lead leaders virtually.

Travel: 50-75% travel per year

KEY DUTIES INCLUDE:Design and implement formulation of long and short-range planning, policies, programs and objectives to meet business goals and ensure environmental compliance. Achieve established objectives for mix, cost, yields, quality customer service and environmental health and safety. Manage assets, facilities, and capital to ensure long term profitability and viability. Drive analytics that maximize the best alternative sale EBIT return, and lead to the development of new tools necessary to measure performance and trends. Provides leadership and direction to develop long term plans for operations in support of overall business strategy; Balances setting strategic vision with the managing the weekly P&L for the Prepared plants. Drives continuous improvement of processes and the implementation of new tools and technologies including creation of lean manufacturing processes to minimize production costs while maximizing production output and ensuring operations follow Company policies and all laws. Collaborates with key internal partners to ensure customer service remains efficient and effective; resolves issues that arise with agility and a focus towards future improvements. Plays a critical role in the supply and demand process to identify key gaps, maximizing alternatives as necessary and recommending additional outlets. Ensures forecasting accuracy for internal and external customers; Utilize network resources to fulfill objectives. Oversees Food Safety Quality Assurance and process improvement throughout stages of production. Develop and sustain a strong safety culture with effective training and development for all team members. Ensuring all leadership is focused on safety initiatives across the division. Is responsible for all capital expenditure projects for manufacturing to ensure completion on schedule and within budget. Develop workforce planning strategy by developing headcount needs and overseeing the coordination and scheduling of production to meet sales and marketing demand levels. Achieves optimum employee levels with the least amount of overhead and raw materials to meet annual budget plan and profit. Keeps abreast of marketplace trends and competitive activity to ensure Tyson remains proactive, agile and able to strategically and nimbly respond to external changes; Anticipates key trends and develops actions to ensure readiness for opportunities that may arise. Acts as change-agent and team player who can work closely with the team to introduce contemporary operational practices to the facility and help create high performance work teams. Can initiate and coordinate major projects including play layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc. As a leader of leaders, must have a clear understanding of the responsibility and duty to act ensuring we are doing what is right. Strong knowledge of quality systems, tools, and procedures and related customer quality standards and requirements. Excellent understanding and the ability to manage capital and expense budgets. Proven ability to solve complex problems and lead teams to solve complex problems. Be strong/adaptable thinker who can be analytical, strategic, and nimble in approach to rapidly changing markets. Results oriented with focus in the following areas: Safety, Food Safety, Cost, Compliance, Service, and Quality.
