This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
Diagnose failures of vehicles and disassemble, repair and reassemble parts as necessary. Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles. Must be able to drive tractors with or without trailers into and out of the Truck Shop and on the grounds. Maintain vehicle records as required, both on paper and computerized. Maintain and repair all fleet equipment. Fill out all necessary documents legibly. Maintain D.O.T. records daily. Communicate with drivers to diagnose malfunction. Clean up tools, parts and the truck shop including spills. Maintain compliance with OSHA, D.O.T and EPA regulations. Must have a valid license to drive. Must have own hand tools (sets of wrenches, sockets, pliers and screw drivers). Must be able to read and understand service manuals. Must be able to repair heavy duty trucks (tractor-trailers, brakes, tires, engines for 18 wheelers). Must be able to repair forklifts. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Previous experience working in a heavy duty truck shop is preferred. Tyson rehire candidates must meet a six-month waiting period from last date of separation and must not have been terminated for attendance, job abandonment, walked off the job, rules of conduct, safety, unsatisfactory probation period.
