Job Description:

Summary: This position is responsible for providing technical and functional support of SAP applications for the end-user. This includes responsibility for the technical and functional support of OS, database, and application tier of SAP systems in a networked environment. Collaborate with IT Professionals and other technical staff to ensure that the delivered solution is meeting the needs of the business. Analyze and resolve software or system/application errors in a timely and accurate fashion. Provide status reports where required. Create and maintain documentation for systems and procedures related to the delivered solution. Train customers on usage of delivered solutions to satisfy current architectural standards. Provide on-call support and problem resolution for SAP software applications. Automate the execution of repeatable tasks. Perform patch and code management to maintain or regain operational health. Must demonstrate problem solving skills and the ability to develop and execute issue resolution plans. Ability to analyze and interpret information systems proposals. Develop and maintain systems to support the business processes. Documentation of activities via the support center call-tracking tool, revising of specific technical manuals, knowledge repositories, and correspondences, creating and interpreting reports. Routing and escalation of unresolved calls to the proper second and third level resources. Administration or testing activities that support team goals or department initiatives. Work will be performed under general supervision and requires ability to work independently and be able to evaluate alternatives not covered under written procedures.


Education: Minimum two-year degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other technical area. Related experience may be acceptable. College degree preferred.

Experience: 2+ years of progressive experience in Information Systems or advanced degree with limited experience.

Computer Skills: Broad knowledge of relevant multi-user computer systems, applications, and/or equipment. Knowledge of current technology developments and trends. Experience with relational database systems; Unix/Linux shell scripting; automating tasks and processes for improved efficiency and proactive management; SAP OSS Note and patch dissemination, recommendation and implementation experience with SAP Netweaver (ABAP AS or Java AS) preferred.

Communication Skills: Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical team members. Ability to effectively communicate written and verbally with customers, peers, and management. Must be able to work cooperatively and effectively in a team environment.

Special Skills: Administration of databases following known best practices. Security configuration using known best practices as it relates to database management. Performance tuning of databases, components, and underlying hardware. Troubleshooting of databases, components, and underlying hardware. Identify, analyze and resolve database/system/application errors. Good knowledge of database design, UNIX operating system, or 1 or more programming languages. Understanding of client/server architecture. Ability to perform ABAP system support. OSS Note application and troubleshooting. Performance and tuning. Understanding of the transport management system (STMS). SAP GUI install build and troubleshooting knowledge. Apply kernel upgrades, patches, support packages and OSS notes. Create new OSS ID's and provides OSS access for system maintenance.
