Description

SUMMARY This position is responsible for operation and maintenance of the ammonia refrigeration system, HCFC systems, hot water, air compressors, waste treatment operations and their safe and efficient operations. Must be able to understand and work within the rules and standards of OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM), and EPA Risk Management Program (RMP). Must be able to work within a total team environment and be able to effectively deal with team members, members of the management team, operations personnel, as well as contractors. Must have a foundational knowledge in troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electrical, refrigeration and other systems under the areas of assigned responsibilities. Be willing to participate in training and skill development in all areas of responsibility, and be self-motivated. QUALIFICATIONS Education High School diploma or equivalent. Formal training from an HVAC Technical School is a plus. RETA and IIAR Ammonia Refrigeration training is preferred. Experience 1+ years Industrial Ammonia Refrigeration and equipment room experience in a food plant preferred experience in the HVAC industry a plus industrial maintenance experience a plus. Tasks

Refrigeration Technician positions are responsible for maintaining and operating the Ammonia system in accordance with all established safety procedures and within PSM RMP Standards, as well as state and federal codes and limits. Works with and or assists contactors performing Ammonia work, facility support systems work to include air, water, gas, electrical, chemical, steam, fire sprinkler, and waste water systems. Installs, maintains, dissembles, refits, repairs and or rebuilds complex electrical mechanical equipment and or machines associated with all ammonia refrigeration, boiler, facility support systems, and waste water systems. Conducts tests of installed repaired equipment machinery and makes final adjustments, under supervision, to ensure safe and proper operation. Read wiring diagrams, blue prints, schematics, logs, and follows directions from manuals and applies logic in solving problems. Ability to understand and trouble shoot electrical circuits 110V, 208-480V associated with equipment responsible for. Provide technical assistance to the Production, Quality Assurance and Sanitation Departments to ensure safe and efficient use of all plant utilities and support equipment and systems. Requirements

Refrigeration Technician class 1 positions require one (1) year of working experience in the Refrigeration Utilities field as an Ammonia Refrigeration, Boiler (Food Industry preferred) or must possess a Certificate of Completion for Industrial Refrigeration Operator Level 1 training. Prefer post high-school education to include specialized training, certifications in Industrial Maintenance. Experience with Process Safety Management, Risk Management and Hazmat Programs preferred. Boiler Operator preferred. Certification as an Industrial Ammonia Refrigeration Operator or Technician as recognized through RETA or equivalent experience preferred. Proficient in Soldering Brazing, desirable to have MIG TIG welding experience. Trained in Hazardous Waste, preferably 40 hour HAZWOPPER Certified. Advance industrial maintenance knowledge of Ammonia, mechanical, electrical pneumatic systems, HVAC, Waste Water Pretreatment systems, boiler systems, electrical troubleshooting, and Fire protection systems. Must be able to wear required personnel protection equipment to include Air Purifying Respirators which requires a medical physical and clearance to wear APR.
