Description

This position is responsible for setting up and operating machinery used for packaging meat while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.

Tasks

The essential functions of the Machine Operator job are to setup, operate, supply, clean, route maintenance and troubleshoot an automated packaging machine at 10' above ground, walking 1.5 miles day, standing throughout shift in cold temperatures. DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES Operates high speed, computerized equipment which weighs, packages, seals and cases-off products, stacks, packs, inspects and unbox product, replenishes raw materials to machine, transports product in bins, directs a Utility operator in palletizing product after weighing and packing, assembles and disassembles machine parts, cleans equipment, enters information into computer console control, adjusts equipment for optimum efficiency, frequently loads wrapping material, analyzes equipment to determine minor or major malfunction and adjusts accordingly, defers to maintenance for repair, conveys information to manufacturers' representatives and other company employees, observes Tyson USDA safety and sanitation rules, wears appropriate personal protective equipment, utilizes proper lifting techniques to avoid injury to themselves and others, and reports injuries and unsafe conditions, monitor and control key product control points such as weights, size, temperatur

Requirements

Must demonstrate sufficient skills to communicate and interpret paperwork, ability to perform mathematical calculations, plot data and make statistically based decisions, possesses sufficient mechanical aptitude to perform set up, tear down and diagnostic procedures, sufficient manual dexterity to operate the equipment, keyboard skill and logic to operate computer console and perform edit functions, sufficient judgment to differentiate between major and minor events, sufficient physical abilities to vertically lift 25 -50 lbs. frequently, lift 5 to 10 lbs. constantly, often, lift 72 lbs. from rarely. Exert forces of 40 lbs., climb steps ladders, tolerate height of 10', walk up to 1.5 miles during shift, stand throughout shift, work in a cold environment. Must have 3 consecutive months work history within the past 12 months.
