This position is responsible for the transport and delivery of freight on time in a professional manner by driving diesel-powered tractor trailer combinations short and long distances, while complying with Department of Transportation rules and regulations, maintaining a safe work environment, and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
This position is responsible for moving trailers to the appropriate areas for the Monroe Plant. Must be able to take trailers with pallets to the pallet dock spot empty trailers at designated loading docks pick up loaded trailers and drop at appropriate area return loaded trailers to the proper area when needed take empty trailers to the staging area ensure the refrigeration unit on trailer is functioning properly by checking units every two hours and deliver or pick up trailers from the offsite trailer storage area. Position requires the ability to push pull carry lift 40+ pounds. Must be able to work in damp cold or damp hot environments, use of hands and arms above shoulder level and be able stand, climb and walk 10+ hours a day. Must be able to communicate effectively and report to the transportation coordinator.
Must have and maintain Commercial Driver s License. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must have at least 1 year CDL driving experience. Must have previous experience driving tractor trailer. Must have a good driving record. Must have a current DOT medical card. Must be able to wash out trailers. Must be able to read, write and have a good basic knowledge of math. Bending, pulling, twisting, turning, and good hand eye foot coordination is required. Must be able to understand and agree to follow Safety Rules (ie. Lockout Tagout). Must be able to comply with OSHA standards Cannot exceed 5 points if working in fillet, cutup, or evisceration. Cannot exceed 3 points if working in labeling. No written warnings or written warnings with suspensions within the last 6 months or counseling within the last two months.
