Tyson Foods Senior Analyst, Sales Strategy & Planning in Chicago, Illinois
This role is a key member of the business unit team developing and executing the national sales strategy and fiscal year plan for the hot dog category. The Sr. Sales Planning Analyst reports to the category Sales Strategy & Planning Manager, primarily interacting with field sales, category management, brand marketing, supply chain, finance and the customer growth and capabilities group.
Primary responsibilities orient around tracking and analyzing brand/category performance, merchandising and distribution monitoring, forecasting, trade fund management and ownership of Regional Brands business. The Sr. Sales Planning Analyst role is a great development opportunity, allowing for solid experience working in a team based, cross functional environment. There is significant exposure to building and executing strategies for leading national brands, along with bringing that vision to a highly sophisticated selling organization. With oversight from Sales Planning Manager, this position will manage the sales planning responsibility for our regional businesses on Hot Dogs, Lunchmeat, Smoked Sausage and Breakfast Sausage. Self-starters with strong sense of ownership are desired in this role. Innate curiosity along with the willingness and ability to learn quickly are valued.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Tracks, reports and analyzes the performance of the category, brand and key products through internal data and external syndicated data platforms.
Provides analytical support to our branded product portfolio which will lead to more touchpoints at higher levels of the organization, requiring strong business acumen, leadership influence and executive presence.
Actively provides insight and analysis to reveal marketplace strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats through the lens of 4P’s guidance (product, pricing, promotion, and placement).
Provides insight on trade spending and promotional analysis, along with monthly financial reconciliation inputs.
Forecasting inputs based on intelligence from key customer teams (focusing on merchandising, distribution, pricing and new items). Supports sales and category planning process, providing fact-based insight and developing priorities that result in optimal outcome for the organization.
Key point of contact for connecting fieldsales teams to the internal business unit.
Management of sales strategy and planning and trade budget for Regional Brands – providing learning experience for moving up to Sales Planning Manager position.
Adhoc responsibilities and work on overall sales strategy and planning group initiatives and platforms, with desire to actively build a stronger team and organization.
Bachelor's Degree required and transferrable work experience preferred.
3+ years relevant experience in customer/trade marketing, sales, marketing and sales analytics, or category management in the CPG industry.
Significant experience with IRI or Nielsen syndicated data strongly preferred. Expert level competency relative to syndicated analytics, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint Analytical skills; demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information and make recommendations.
Communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate with sales organization and internal BU/Supply Chain partners.
Multi-tasking and ability to prioritize in fast paced environment with little direction from management
