Description

This is a driver position responsible for the transport and delivery of freight on time in a professional manner by driving diesel-powered tractor trailer combinations short and long distances, while complying with Department of Transportation rules and regulations, maintaining a safe work environment, and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.

Tasks

This position is responsible for dispatching trucks, documenting and preparing load sheets, answering phone, keeping work area clean, and performing required checks at plant. This position is also responsible for full-time driver duties such as hauling chickens from farm to processing plant, carrying trailers to farms, binding and unbinding trailers, and conducting pre and post trip inspections of equipment daily.

Requirements

Work flexible hours, weekends, holidays and different shifts as needed. Sit, stand, reach, grasp, push, pull, bend, and stoop. Lift up to 40 lbs. Must be able to read to follow directions and write to prepare documentation. Wash trailers and assist Cage Repair Attendant. Use small hand tools stick welding ability a plus. Operate forklift Moffett. Run errands. Work in dusty environment, extreme hot cold temperatures, and area with unpleasant odors. Must possess valid Alabama Class A CDL in good standing and be at least 21 years of age. Must have 1 year verifiable experience in type vehicle operated (top heavy load experience preferred). No DUI DWI conviction in past 8 years in personal vehicle--never in CMV. No DOT Drug or Alcohol Violation in past 3 years. Pass Road Test. Pass all mandatory DOT drug tests. Meet all Tyson Driver Evaluations System requirements. Must have 6 months continuous work history with 1 employer in last 24 months. Must not have terminated from Tyson facility in last 6 months. Rehires discharged from Tyson for Job Abandonment, Unsatisfactory Probationary Period, Rules of Conduct, Walked Off Job, Attendance, and Insubordination will not be considered.
