This is a driver position responsible for the transport and delivery of freight on time in a professional manner by driving diesel-powered tractor trailer combinations short and long distances, while complying with Department of Transportation rules and regulations, maintaining a safe work environment, and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
Communicate verbally and in writing. Use basic math skills to complete DOT and company records. Maintain driving log. Conduct pre and post trip inspections. Drop, hook, spot, switch and interchange equipment. Report all accidents and incidents. Climb in and out of truck and ladders or stairs. Drive, shift gears, walk, bend, stoop, twist, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs. Comply with DOT and Tyson Fleet Safety Driver rules and regulations.
Must have valid Class A CDL in good standing and be at least 21 years of age. Must have 1 year verifiable experience in vehicle operated. No DUI DWI conviction in past 8 years in personal vehicle--never in CMV. No DOT Drug or Alcohol Violation in past 3 years. Read and write to follow delivery schedule and directions to farms. Must pass Road Test. Must pass all mandatory DOT drug tests. Must meet Tyson Driver Evaluation System requirements. Must have 6 months continuous work history with 1 employer in last 24 months. Must not have terminated from Tyson facility within past 6 months. Rehires discharged from Tyson for Job Abandonment, Unsatisfactory Probation, Rules of Conduct, Walked Off Job, Attendance, and Insubordination will not be considered. Applicants from Marshall, DeKalb, Etowah, Blount, Cullman, and Calhoun counties in AL will be considered.
